There are two ways to capture images from your Comics to add to your Digital Exhibit.
- From the material copy of your comic in RULA Special Collections:
- Make an appointment with Special Collections to see your comic book number
- Take photographs of the images you want with your phone or camera
- Upload your images to the Media Library* on the CLA Student Exhibition site for use in your Digital Exhibit
- From the PDF of the comic you downloaded from Library & Archives Canada
- Open the pdf and scroll to the page with the image you want to capture
- In Windows open the “Snipping” tool
- On Mac open the “Grab” tool
- Use either of these tools to choose a selection of the page
- Save the image as a jpeg
- Keep images to about 50KB
- Upload your images to the Media Library* on the CLA Student Exhibition site for use in your Digital Exhibit
*You will find the Media Library in the Dashboard of the CLA Student Exhibition Site. For more specific instructions, see Guide to Building Digital Exhibit and Guide to Creating Captions.
- Go to Media > Add New >then upload your image
- Go to Media > Library, click on your image and fill out metadata:
- You will add a Caption to the image, in MLA 8th ed style, that attributes the image to its creator, describes the source, medium, location, and other pertinent information. (Consult the UBC http://copyright.ubc.ca/guidelines-and-resources/support-guides/image-citation-guide for instructions about what information belongs in your caption and the ENG 810 Guide to Credits for Images)
- In the Caption put the title of the work in quotation marks or you can put the title inside your title goes here which will display as italic (quotations are used for titles of parts of standalone publications; italics are used for titles of standalone publications)
- Add Alt Text (description of contents for screen readers for the visually impaired)
